Honoring Pride, Every Day
As Pride Month wraps up, I’ve been spending time thinking not just about this month, but about what Pride means for us at Ember—both as individuals and as a practice.
We had the chance to attend Birmingham Pridefest this year, and it was honestly one of the most meaningful things we’ve done in a while. We got to connect with so many wonderful folx in the queer and trans community here in Alabama. We were able to share a beautiful moment making affirmation cards with our community at our booth—small, powerful messages of self-love, hope, and truth. They’re now hanging in our Hoover office, and every time I walk by, they remind me of how deeply important connection is.
For us, Pride isn’t contained to just a month. It’s something we live and breathe in the way we show up for our clients and our community year-round. We’re not perfect, but we are committed to learning and growing — most importantly, where are committed to our clients and the community we have the privilege of supporting.

What Pride Looks Like in Practice
At Ember Embodied Wellness, we provide LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy because it’s not optional. It’s not “extra.” It’s foundational. We offer gender-affirming care because every person deserves to be seen and supported for who they are—not questioned or misunderstood in therapeutic space.
We know that for many queer and trans folx, therapy hasn’t always been safe. It might have been invalidating. It might have caused harm. That’s not okay—and it’s something we actively work against.
We want our clients to know they don’t have to explain themselves or edit parts of who they are when they walk through our door. Whether you’re exploring your identity, navigating complex family dynamics, working through trauma, or simply looking for someone to witness and support you, we’re here.
And we really mean that. You don’t have to earn space here.

Holding the Fullness of Pride
Pride is joy and color and visibility—but it’s also protest, grief, and memory. It holds all of it at once. And for many people, especially here in the South, living openly and safely is still a fight.
At Ember, we want to be a place where you don’t have to fight to be understood. We want therapy to be a soft place to land. That’s the work we try to do every day.
We’re committed to ongoing learning, unlearning, and growth—not just individually, but as a team and a practice. And we’re committed to walking alongside our queer and trans clients through whatever life holds—not just in June, but every day.
This installation in our office serves as a reminder of all of our worth.
